Washington, D.C. – POLICOM, an independent economic research firm which specializes in analyzing local and state economies has released its annual economic strength rankings and the DC metropolitan area claimed the top spot for the second time in a row.

The outcome of the study is a proof that D.C. is a recession proof area and immune to economic downfall which is currently faced by most parts of the country. One of the main reasons why DC is ranked no.1 is the active federal government support and the tech industry which provides growth in job creation which leads to an stable and strong local economy.

The 2nd spot goes to The Des Moines of IA Metropolitan Area which is due to the growth of the Finance and Insurance industry. One of the most remarkable metropolitan area is the Huntsville, AL MSA which performed impressively leaping from 52nd last year to ranked 15 this year. The high jump in the ranking is due to the rapid growth in the high paying jobs in the Scientific study industries,

The “music city” metropolitan area (Nashville-Davidson-Murfreesboro-Franklin, TN) was ranked no.4 and this is because entertainment especially the music industry has not been greatly tarnished by the recession and other sectors like the tourism and the food industry also helped Nashville area to be an stable metropolitan area.
